The long-lived nuclear singlet state of 15N-nitrous oxide in solution.

چکیده
A 15N nuclear singlet lifetime of over 26 min has been observed in a solution of 15N2O, by using a field-cycling NMR pulse sequence. This observation suggests applications of hyperpolarized 15N2O in medical imaging and for flow and diffusion studies.

Storage of nuclear magnetization as long-lived singlet order in low magnetic field.
Hyperpolarized nuclear states provide NMR signals enhanced by many orders of magnitude, with numerous potential applications to analytical NMR, in vivo NMR, and NMR imaging. However, the lifetime of hyperpolarized magnetization is normally limited by the relaxation time constant T(1), which lies in the range of milliseconds to minutes, apart from in exceptional cases. In many cases, the lifetim...
متن کاملcis Versus trans-Azobenzene: Precise Determination of NMR Parameters and Analysis of Long-Lived States of 15N Spin Pairs
We provide a detailed evaluation of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) parameters of the cis- and trans-isomers of azobenzene (AB). For determining the NMR parameters, such as proton-proton and proton-nitrogen J-couplings and chemical shifts, we compared NMR spectra of three different isotopomers of AB: the doubly 15N labeled azobenzene, 15N,15N'-AB, and two partially deuterated AB isotopomers wi...
متن کاملThe Contamination of Commercial 15N2 Gas Stocks with 15N–Labeled Nitrate and Ammonium and Consequences for Nitrogen Fixation Measurements
We report on the contamination of commercial 15-nitrogen (15N) N2 gas stocks with 15N-enriched ammonium, nitrate and/or nitrite, and nitrous oxide. 15N2 gas is used to estimate N2 fixation rates from incubations of environmental samples by monitoring the incorporation of isotopically labeled 15N2 into organic matter. However, the microbial assimilation of bioavailable 15N-labeled N2 gas contami...
متن کاملExcited-State Dynamics of Diindenoperylene in Liquid Solution and in Solid Films
The excited-state dynamics of diindenoperylene (DIP) are investigated in dilute solution and in a solid film at room temperature using picosecond photoluminescence and femtosecond transient absorption measurements. In solution, DIP undergoes a rapid (0.89 ns) internal conversion back to its ground state, with no detectable formation of triplet or other long-lived states. In the solid state, mul...
متن کاملA Nuclear Singlet Lifetime of More than One Hour in Room‐Temperature Solution†
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are supremely important techniques with numerous applications in almost all branches of science. However, until recently, NMR methodology was limited by the time constant T1 for the decay of nuclear spin magnetization through contact with the thermal molecular environment. Long-lived states, which are correlated quantum state...
